Rachel Hore - Ride with Strength
Rachel Hore is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Exercise Scientist and Mountain Bike Coach who offers consultations from her dedicated studio space at YREC. She is an avid outdoor adventurist and cyclist in a multitude of disciplines who moved to the Upper Yarra Valley more than two years ago to live in a region that was perfectly suited to her pursuit of all things cycling. Rachel has a passion for mountain biking, and she is an elite mountain bike rider specialising in Gravity enduro, Downhill and Cross Country. She has ridden bikes since she was very young and competed and lived internationally.
Rachel’s mission is to support all people to enjoy their lives more fully. She is committed to helping people understand how Exercise Physiology is part of an allied health plan and pleased to offer her services from her studio in Warburton. “When I looked around, I could see that no-one else was offering Exercise Physiology in the region, so I feel I bring something special and useful to our community,” she says.
Rachel’s love for mountain biking ensures she has a deep understanding of the ways our bodies work best on a bike, but she supports people at all stages of their life span learn how to improve mobility and function. Her consultations are useful for children, adults and older people seeking greater ability to do the things they love with more ease.
“I am passionate about using movement and exercise to enhance performance, function and wellbeing for all people,” she says. “Exercise and movement is great medicine. It’s helpful on a physical level but also important for mental health. And it’s such a beautiful place to get outside and enjoy the benefits of exercising in the great outdoors.”
“I am dedicated to raising the profile of women in sport and specifically in cycling and mountain biking,” she says, “and I see real growth and development in the people I coach. Riding a bike is about developing skills, rising to the challenge and building confidence. It is my experience that what we achieve on the bike, is reflected in what we can achieve in life in general.”
Rachel loves to educate people as to what her services can provide for them as often it is an area of health management that is overlooked. She describes Exercise Physiology, Performance Coaching and Mountain Bike Skill coaching as follows:
Exercise physiology provides an exercise prescription for injury management and rehabilitation to help manage/prevent chronic disease, help recover faster from surgery or an injury, or help maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Performance coaching is personalised strength programming to enhance strength and fitness on the bike. Rachel develops a program specific to you, to boost endurance, strength and stability on the bike and manage injuries that might take you away from the sport you love.
MTB Skills Coaching is all about learning the fundamentals of mountain biking, and/or improving skills to boost confidence.
She discovered YREC when she moved to the region and relocated her practice to Warburton from Lilydale to avoid commuting time. “I can ride my bike to work here, and clients love to have any reason to come and visit our beautiful surrounds.” Rachel has a small weights studio set up where she can work through exercise programs with clients, but she has also welcomed connections with other tenants in the YREC village community where ideas and clients can be cross pollinated and provided with a cohesive range of services in one location.
She created the name ‘Ride with Strength’ while she was at university, but it really made sense when she decided to use the name for her business at YREC. Riding though life with strength is the prefect way for her to combine her love for the mountains, the human body and bringing out people’s best.
