Adam Baker is a signwriter with a passion for creating visual identities for his clients that go beyond the expected and add a sense of awe to their surroundings. The graphic designer has relocated his long standing signwriting and design business to YREC and is servicing a range of new and existing clients in the Yarra Valley and the High Country. His versatile approach to design and manufacture means Adam can create unique logos and brand identities to each client’s needs and develop a cohesive and vibrant range of collaterals. Adam has a great love for murals, but his talents can be seen in everything from exterior signage to vehicle wraps, clothing and ‘splash’ windows. He offers seasonal ‘window paint ups’ with Christmas being a key time where shopfronts can embrace some Freshly Baked seasonal spirit. An avid mountain bike and BMX rider, Adam and his family were drawn to the Upper Yarra Valley and the opportunities associated with the opening of Warburton Bike Park. Adam is a competitive rider who has raced all over the world, and he is happy to be part of a growing social and business community that values the outdoors, the environment, and all things cycling. He also has a business designing and manufacturing bike ride wear and can create custom clothing for clients. His brand “299 Enjoy the ride” is named for his son’s first competitive BMX race number. Adam’s father was a set designer for the ABC and a respected figure in the field. “Although I first studied graphic design, and worked in media, I eventually found my way into signwriting and bring extensive experience to this business,” says Adam. “My father was talented, and he has left me with not only a legacy, but also a range of tools and brushes that I still use today. There is a return to the ‘old’ ways of doing things in signwriting. Some of the sable brushes I use today are more than 40 years old.” The name ‘Freshly Baked Ideas’ is a play on Adam’s full service and original creative offer, with a nod to his surname Baker. His focus is on offering affordable and cost-effective solutions that are ‘outside the box’. Adam’s studio is open every day, unless he is out on an install. “I’ve found a great space at YREC, and I’m so happy one of my mountain bike mates encouraged me to check it out. The community has been welcoming, and everyone has a passion for what they do. It’s terrific to be constantly surrounded by good ideas and people doing smart things in business.”
