Having worked in human resources from 2007 to 2021, Daim wanted something more creative and hands-on. Barbering was the perfect fit as it allowed him to work with his hands, engage with people, and be part of a local community in a meaningful way. Since moving to Warburton in 2019, Daim has felt a strong connection to the area, and he saw an opportunity to offer a traditional barbershop experience without the long drive. “The YREC location is fantastic,” says Daim. “It is easy to find, with excellent parking, which is important for my customers. The YREC community has been incredibly welcoming. There’s a great mix of businesses here, and it’s a supportive environment to grow a small business.” Daim has been able to test the market and has had a terrific community response confirming there’s demand for quality barbering services in the area. “I want to grow the business into a bigger barbershop with multiple barbers,” says Daim. “My goal is to create a strong, go-to destination for men’s grooming in the Upper Yarra Valley—one that continues to focus on quality, community, and great service.” Daim is passionate about more than just haircuts—Warburton Barber Co is a space where people can relax, forget their worries, and connect. “It is a proper community barbershop where everyone feels at home,” he says.
