Securing the Future of YREC

The Yarra Ranges Enterprise Centre (YREC) in Warburton is celebrating after securing the future of the premises at 21 Woods Point Road, Warburton.

The site was unexpectedly placed on an “excess stock list” in 2016 by the state government and faced an uncertain future. With a stronghold of business and community support via the “Save YREC” campaign, negotiations commenced in 2017 by the YREC board, successfully enabling a purchase option with a three-year term.

In the past year, with secure tenancy assured, occupancy has increased from 70% to more than 95% and significant progress has been made towards outright ownership.

“Securing the future of the buildings was important to the business and general community of Warburton, but the real value is the opportunity for local businesses and entrepreneurs to have access to affordable workspace and support services.”

Alison Fitzgerald, Executive Officer of YREC

Tenants at YREC provide a diverse range of businesses and services, from award-winning artists, makers and producers, to a range of wellbeing and health practitioners, manufacturing and professional services.
